Small purchase calculator

Pick something you buy often, or type your own price and how often you buy it. See what it adds up to over a month, a year and five years.

How it adds up

The calculator multiplies the price by how often you buy, then spreads it over a month: a week counts as 52 ÷ 12, about 4.33 times a month, and a day as 365 ÷ 12, about 30.4. A year is twelve of those months; five years is sixty. Nothing you type leaves this page.

A $5.50 coffee five times a week comes to about $119 a month, $1,430 a year and $7,150 over five years.

The point isn’t to give it up

A big yearly number doesn’t make the coffee a mistake. If you enjoy it, it may be money well spent. The useful part is knowing the total when you decide, so the small things you’d rather not pay for stand out from the ones you would choose again.

The same arithmetic works for anything that repeats: a delivery fee, a snack on the way home, or a subscription you rarely open.

Know the real number, not the estimate. Walti logs what you spend in seconds and adds up each category for you, privately on your iPhone.
